NightDriving Production Summary

Stage Set

Three black risers. One approx 16' wide, 16' deep, 3' high, with steps on three sides, situated upstage. Two risers approx 8' wide, 4' deep, 18" high, situated downstage left and right. See the technical sketch for riser locations.

Video Sources

DVD Player: Pioneer DVD-V7400, with component video outputs.

B&W Video Surveillance Cameras (four): Hung approx 8' above top of upstage riser, pointing downward. Each camera is equipped with a 60' cable carrying video and power, running to four-way video mixer located backstage. The video mixer outputs a single composite video signal combining all four cameras.

Video Projection

Projector #1: 8000 lumens (nominal). Connected to DVD player via component video (YPbPr), at 16:9 aspect ratio (wide-screen mode). Desired size of projector #1 video image is 32' wide x 18' high on the scrim, using a normal lens with 80' throw.

Projector #2: 3500 lumens (nominal). Connected to four-way video mixer via composite video (RCA), at 4:3 aspect ratio. Preferred minimum size of projector #2 video image is 16' wide x 12' high on the scrim. The composite video cable run from stage to projector may require a video amplifier to ensure image quality.

Scrim: Video projection scrim is Gerriets Silver Sharkstooth (silver/black color) www.gi-info.com/silvershark.html or equivalent. Scrim should fully cover proscenium opening, with any gap between top of scrim and top of proscenium to be masked by a hard black border.

The images from the projectors overlap on the scrim, centered left-to-right and aligned at the bottom of the scrim. It is most important that the image from Projector #1 (the DVD footage) is bright and clear. The video projectors are independently "dimmed" with scrolling dimmers at various times during the performance.

Audio

Audio Source: Pioneer DVD-V7400, stereo (unbalanced) with RCA connectors.
